How auto-paste works

After Hearsy transcribes your speech, it places the text on your macOS clipboard and simulates a Cmd+V keystroke using the CGEvent API. This is the same low-level mechanism that macOS itself uses for keyboard events — indistinguishable from a real keypress.

The paste happens wherever your cursor is currently focused. If you're writing an email in Gmail, the text appears in Gmail. If you're coding in Cursor, it appears in Cursor. You don't need to configure anything per-app.

For the rare case where CGEvent doesn't work (some sandboxed or hardened apps), Hearsy has an AppleScript fallback that sends the paste command via a different mechanism. Your text is always on the clipboard as a last resort.
